Green Country Oklahoma Adventure Tour (G.O.A.T.) April 30th-May 1st, 2022 Green Country Oklahoma Adventure Tour (G.O.A.T.) is a GPS-guided adventure route through over 500 miles of Northeastern Oklahoma back-roads created by adventurer/UPS driver Daniel Sawin. The GOAT follows public roads through a variety of terrain including loose gravel, large rocks, mud, steep hills, and over 50 water crossings after a good rain! The majority of the route is gravel roads and twisty pavement with some connecting highway sections and a few short rough sections. If that isn't enough, there are several places along the route to really go off-road and test your skills.
The GOAT travels through numerous wooded areas including the Cherokee State Game Refuge, the J.T. Nickle Family Nature and Wildlife Preserve, and Spavinaw Hills Wildlife Management Area.
The event is fairly well attended by owners of many different bike brands and size of bikes range from 100cc-ish to big BMW and HD models.
The majority of the GOAT route is capable for those with big bikes (R1200/1250GS). Additional skills and equipment are needed on a few sections where there is a significant rocky section and a few others with a fair amount of mud. Those sections can be easily by-passed for better maintained routes. However, those wishing to take those more challenging sections should consider having more aggressive tires (70/30 to 50/50).
There is no organization to grouping when riding the route. But other riders are more than willing to help other riders if there are issues or challenges. Small packs of riders will often typically form around comfort level and skill.
The GOAT Rally will be held at Eagle Bluff Resort on April 30th and May 1st. There is plenty of room for tent camping and large number of slots for trailers and RV’s. There are no rally or event fee. However, camping fees apply if staying at Eagle Bluff Resort overnight. Tent camping at Eagle Bluff Resort is $7 per person per night. See Eagle Bluff’s website for RV/hookup site pricing: https://www.eaglebluffresort.com/.
Hotels can be found nearby in Tahlequah and is only a 20 minute ride to Eagle Bluff Resort. BMW MOA members have access to discounts with many hotels in Tahlequah when booked through the BMW MOA website.
If trailering your bike to the event daily, there is plenty of space available in the Eagle Bluff parking lot to park for the day as well as load and unload.
Rider meeting is at 9 AM on both days. So if camping, it might be best to arrive on Friday. NOTE: The rider meet is the only organized activity at this event.
A GPS or phone with GPS for navigation is a must for this route. If you do not have a GPS or phone with a GPS app, make sure you have a riding buddy who does. You can get the GPX file here: https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/gpsdownloads?__gid__=2919260181421930.
